Most pieces on AVI were first published by Icarus Asia, a risk and advisory firm, or on LinkedIn. They appear here under the byline Icarus Asia Research, with their original publication dates. Each piece says where it was first published.

Relationship to Icarus Asia

AVI was founded by Kenan Machado, who is its executive editor and also Executive Director at Icarus Asia. AVI is operated by Icarus Asia Limited and republishes research that Icarus Asia first published. Editorial decisions at AVI are made by AVI's editor and are independent of Icarus Asia's commercial interests. Our Ethics policy sets out how we disclose and manage this relationship.

How AVI is funded

AVI expects to be funded at launch by reader contributions, membership and non-partisan support. It is not affiliated with any state or state-affiliated organisation. Funders have no say over what we publish. We will list our funding sources on this page and update it when they change.

Languages

Every piece is also available in Simplified Chinese. The Chinese editions are machine-translated and published without human review. The English version prevails.
