Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Effective 5 October 2026. Last updated 5 October 2026.
Good journalism needs different voices. We cover Asian markets and value investing, and our work gets better when we hear from people with varied experiences.
What Guides Us
We commission/hire for quality.
Our contributors and staff earn their place through sharp analysis, solid reporting, and deep knowledge of investing. It's based on our belief that talent comes from everywhere, and that different backgrounds often bring fresh insights to markets.
Everyone gets a fair shot.
We follow Hong Kong's anti-discrimination laws and don't exclude anyone based on race, gender, nationality, place of origin, religion, any or all identities, personal or political beliefs, or other protected characteristics. If you can do the work well, we want to hear from you.
We reflect the region we cover.
Hong Kong is global. Asia is vast. Our contributor base should include voices from across the region—people who understand local markets because they've lived them, not just studied them from afar.
Our editors run their own shops.
Section editors have autonomy. They decide what to cover and who to quote. We encourage them to seek out diverse sources and perspectives, but we don't micromanage from the top.
We're open about our approach.
We'll share updates on our editorial composition and welcome feedback. We won't publish detailed demographic breakdowns, but you'll see our commitment in who writes for us and who we quote.
The Bottom Line
Excellence in investment journalism comes from smart people challenging each other's thinking. We want contributors who bring something different to the conversation—and we want an environment where everyone can do their best work.
